Arterial Network was represented at the Nigerian Digital Music Summit held from 28th -29th September 2015 in Lagos. The Network, represented by the National Coordinator Ayodele Ganiu and Member of the National Steering Committee Victor Nwokocha, participated in the summit to ascertain new trends in digital music business as they affect the Nigerian music industry and to explore collaborative opportunities for contributing to the development of the industry. CORA/AN representatives met with the Chairman of Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) Chief Tony Okoroji, Nigerian music legend ‘’Chief Commander’’ Ebenezer Obey and many other prominent stakeholders in the music industry to seek their involvement in Arterial Network’s strategic plan for the development of creative industries.
The two-day summit with the theme ‘’Establishing the Basic Rules of Engagement in the Digital Environment’’, was aimed at establishing the proper framework for the exploitation of music in the digital space and setting in motion the desired change the industry seeks. Held at Eko Convention Centre, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island in Lagos, the summit was well attended by major players in the music industry including Evangelist (Dr.) Ebenezer Obey, Chief Tony Okoroji, Mr Audu Maikori, President of the Chocolate City Music Group, Mr. Efe Omorogbe, CEO Now Muzik, Mr. Afam Ezekude, Director General, Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Mr. Yunusa Labaran, Project Coordinator Growth and Employment Projects (GEM), Olu Maintain, Baba Dee, Mode 9, Azeezat Allen, Daddy Fresh, to mention just a few. The summit was organized by COSON, supported and funded by The World Bank, Growth and Employment Projects (GEM), UKAid and Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
